Hmm. Details are coming in that Microsoft is all set to hold a Windows Mixed Reality event next month in San Francisco, with October 3 said to be the big day for the gathering.
It’s supposed to be a launch event of sorts.
The software titan is in the process of sending out press invitations for this special event. And although not many details are available at the moment, there is talk that the inventor of HoloLens, Alex Kipman, will be attending.
We probably shouldn’t be holding out for any new details on a new HoloLens model, or even its rumored successor that is certainly in early stages of development.
Instead, quite obviously, the focus of the event will be on the Windows Mixed Reality headsets that are currently on track to launch on October 17, ahead of this holiday season, and alongside the latest version of the operating system, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
The report does mention that the invitation for this event specifically mentions that attendees will get a chance to hear where Microsoft is headed next.

It may well be that Redmond is planning more of an American focus for the upcoming headsets from partners, which are actually coming off of a showing in Europe, at IFA 2017 in Germany. Headsets like the Dell Visor and the Lenovo Explorer could always use more spotlight.
Anyway, we now have to event from Microsoft to look forward to in October.
This, and the Future Decoded event in London, where Panos Panay is expected to announce some new hardware, possibly a Surface device or two.
