Redmond is taking its aggressive expansion into retail business international, with news that the company is getting ready to open a new Microsoft Store in Shanghai, China.

Microsoft has already confirmed that it will be opening new stores around the globe, and with China being an increasingly important market for the technology titan, it makes sense to open a location in the largest city in China — and consequently the largest city in the world in terms of population.

A report published by LiveSide.net reveals that Shanghai is the first Chinese location to get a Microsoft Store, but the company has already outlined an even more ambitious plan when it comes to this market.

The technology titan is very close to a big opening — it has already posted job ads for an operations director to lead its Shanghai outlet.

All said and done, this shows that China is among the priorities for the Redmond based technology giant.

At the same time, Microsoft is said to be considering several key European markets for future stores. A number of unofficial reports have claimed that the company will begin its conquest of the Old Continent with a store opening in the United Kingdom, with London being an expected candidate.

The company recently talked about its retail plans, saying that it hopes to see at least 101 official stores ready for business within the next year as it gears up to launch Windows 8.1, and all the products that will follow the release of the operation system.
