Always a good day when a software update is rolled out, particularly if it includes some new features to go with the usual dose of performance enhancements and bug fixes.

And Microsoft has just updated the iOS versions of its OneNote and Remote Desktop apps.

First up is the Remote Desktop app, or should we say the popular Remote Desktop app. It finally gets the requested pinch-to-zoom support in Mouse Pointer mode that many users demanded. And we can safely say that many users will be pleased — this is a handy feature.

Version 8.0.2 of Microsoft Remote Desktop is actually a big update, and along with support for the aforementioned feature, it also brings a screen resolution fix for iPhone 5 users to go with a handful of performance improvements and optimizations.

This is, obviously, a remote computing utility that was recently released on multiple platforms like iOS, Android and Mac OS X. It can be used to access Windows powered PCs distantly from mobile device or a Macintosh computer.

Redmond has also updated OneNote, the digital notebook software. Version 2.1.4 is actually a minor update that delivers solutions to hangs and freezes.

The latest versions of OneNote and Remote Desktop can be download from the App Store.
