Now, wouldn’t that be something! Microsoft has expressed a desire to bring the iMessage service to Windows 10, and the company is willing to work with Apple on this.

Syncing up Windows 10 devices and phones was a big theme at the recently concluded BUILD 2018 developer conference earlier this month, where Redmond showed off new features like access to notifications, support for messages and photos.

On Android, where such ventures are a lot easier to make happen.

However, seeing that the Apple iOS platform is a walled garden of goodness, Microsoft is unable to add support for the very popular iMessage feature on its operating system.

That said, the software giant is willing to work with Apple to make this happen.

In a recent interview, Joe Belfiore and Shilpa Ranganathan of Microsoft explained that one of their targets is to bring support of the iPhone messaging service to Windows 10 devices, even though it is not yet clear that they have had talks with the Cupertino based company on this.

Here are the words:

“Apple does make it a tad harder for messages, but we’re very willing to work with Apple.

I want to do this in a supported way with a respect for the ecosystem we’re building on and at the same time make it a delightful experience. Messages is one where we’re not currently where we need to be compared to Android, but we need to work with Apple.”

Well and good.

Of course, Microsoft and Apple are still rivals, in multiple fields, including education where Apple is investing and expanding. But on the flipside, this is no longer a bitter rivalry, the one that made headlines back in the good old days.

So, is there a chance for Apple opening up here?

Well, keeping in mind the fact that Apple very recently launched a Microsoft Store version of its iTunes package for Windows 10, there may be a glimmer of hope.

But for the time being, it appears that Microsoft is the one doing all the hoping.
