launching a version of Office aimed at Apple tablets arrived before the Windows 8 build because the company wants to make its product available everywhere — and delaying launch further would have only resulted in losing more space to rivals. This is what Nadella said:

“The intent here is to make sure our services are available on all devices. There are going to be Windows devices and there are going to be other devices and we have to make sure our services run on all of them. That said, iPad has the most share. We are definitely going to have touch-first Office on Windows, and it is coming.”
Nothing we haven’t heard before — but it is nevertheless good to hear it again. Additionally, John Case, the corporate vice president for marketing, Microsoft Office said that the new generation of the productivity suite, the touch optimized flavor, will bring new apps in a long time that would offer new ways of creating, storing and organizing content. Won’t that be a sight!]]>

  • I get it. He says Apple has the largest tablet share and he wanted to take advantage of that asap. It makes sense.

  • I still think releasing it for the iPad first was a mistake. It makes it seem as they are giving up on Windows which isn’t true

  • Marketing-wise, it makes sense. But emotionally, it’s a mistake.
