The Acer Iconia W3 tablet, set for release early next month is one of the most anticipated Windows 8 hardware at the moment, and we have seen several details pop up these past few weeks that shed more light on the hardware.
Now thanks to Acer’s Finland website, we may finally have a complete picture.
The product page of Iconia W3 just went live, and provides a considerable amount of information regarding the upcoming device. The 8.1 inch tablet is the first Windows 8 tablet to come with a screen size under 10 inches, and is likely to retail for the mouthwatering price of $380 for the base model.
The tablet is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Clover Trail Z2760 processor running at 1.8 GHz, which is paired by 2 GB of memory and 64 GB of onboard storage, along with the possibility of expansion using the included microSD card slot.
The display is said to feature a WXGA resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, with a 16:10 ratio.
A battery that offers around 8 hours of video playback is said to be included. Add to this list a 2 megapixels front facing camera, along with 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity plus microUSB and microHDMI ports and the hardware specifications are more or less complete.
The tablet is said to be running Windows 8 Pro right out of the box, and this little fact along will make it an interesting option for a lot of potential buyers.
Microsoft Office is also said to be offered with the slate, though it is not yet clear whether it is the full licensed version of the productivity suite, or just an extended trial that is usually included on most devices.
The tablet also passed through the FCC recently, and its entry there details the optional snap-on full-size keyboard that was previously revealed. The keyboard appears to have room for an extra battery, though the device page details nothing on this.
In any case, the likely release date of June 4 that is thrown around is not very far away, and we could finally have a perfectly capable Windows 8 slate that offers solid performance at an exciting form factor and an even more engaging price.
What about you guys? Are you excited about this slate and what it offers? And more importantly, do you feel this is the direction Windows 8 tablet makers should concentrate on for future products based on the platform. Share your thoughts below.
