Word has been strong ever since first Windows 8.1 (or Windows Blue) leak made its way to the Internet, almost a month ago, that Microsoft was working on a new Metro app.

No details were, obviously, provided then.

But now it appears we may have more on this matter. Windows 8.1 is said to pack a new app codenamed Movie Moments. And as you would expect it is completely optimized for touch.

A new set of screenshots includes one that looks like a Metro flavor of the classic Movie Maker application that was part of previous version of Windows.

As things stand, the Movie Moments in Windows 8.1 looks to provide three major features to cut video clips, add captions, and automatically apply other effects.

The image above shows that the “Trim It” option allows users to cut video clips to durations amounting to 60 seconds or less, while captions can be added with the “Say It” tool. The “Share It” option seems to be the most fascinating of the bunch and could potentially provide automatic editing options.

Editing options in this case being effects and filters, of course!

There are also two additional buttons — one that allows users to take a video from their Windows 8 device or computer, or browse for a clip already recorded.

Now that the cat is out, expect more details on this Movie Moments Metro app in the coming weeks and months to follow, particularly at the BUILD developer conference in San Francisco.
