Another fine new day, and another fine new Microsoft contest! This time, the recently expanded Skype for Outlook.com gets a look (pun fully intended, with apologies).

As we reported earlier today, Redmond launched the Skype for Outlook.com integration for users in North America, thereby allowing users of its highly popular email service to talk to their Skype contacts straight from their browsers.

And to celebrate the occasion, the technology titan has also rolling out a contest that gives users a chance to make a special video call with Gail Simmons — food expert and author — just by submitting their favorite recipe.

The Skype team detailed the contest on the official blog:

“As a busy professional who is always on the go, Gail understands the importance of keeping in touch with friends and family. We partnered with her to announce a contest where consumers can submit a recipe for a chance to make a video call with Gail via Skype for Outlook.com.

For every entry Outlook.com will donate $10 to Common Threads, a charity that promotes healthy eating with kids–and if the entry comes from an Outlook.com account, we’ll donate $20!”

Now, that’s what you call an incentive!

Microsoft also took the opportunity to confirm that that Skype for Outlook.com would soon go live for several new countries. The appealing little service is currently available only in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and as of yesterday, the United States.
