reported by early adopters of the new tablet, and it took Redmond a while to determine the cause of this limited connectivity problem. Similar issues were also reported on previous generation Surface models, and it took the technology titan a few months to nail them. Users complained that the Surface Pro 3 lost WiFi connectivity all of a sudden. Sometimes it happened when waking the tablet up from sleep mode. A few workarounds were offered, but none of them took care of the problem completely, leaving owners no choice but to reboot their Surface Pro 3 tablets in order to browse the web again. This is what’s included this latest firmware update, according to the official release notes:

  • Surface Pro UEFI update (v3.10.250.0) improves system experience and enhances overall system stability, including Wi-Fi.
  • Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware update (v38.6.50.0) enhanced support for system performance and user experience, including thermostat icon on boot.
  • Surface Pro System Aggregator Firmware update (v3.9.350.0) increases the overall system reliability and compatibility with a Surface cover.
  • Surface Integration driver update (v2.0.1102.0) enhances user experience, including Wi-Fi stability.
  • Surface Wi-Fi and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.3055.107) improves Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth reliability and system stability, and significantly enhances the user experience.
This is practically the sixth time Microsoft is addressing this WiFi issue. The company has requested users to deploy this new firmware and report back whether this new software refresh finally fixes the problem. Let’s just hope that it does. Once and for all. No firmware updates have been released for the Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface 2 or the original Surface RT for September 2014, in case you are wondering.]]>

  • Finally! I don’t own one, but for how they’re advertising this tablet, this issue should have been fixed awhile ago. If you’re going to say it’s better than a macbook, then make sure the wifi works!
