New Windows 8.1 Update 1 Screenshots Show Modern App Pinning

look at some screenshots yesterday. And now Win8China has posted another set that shows multiple Metro apps pinned to the taskbar. These include People, Weather, Maps, Photos and PC Settings — all official built-in apps, and it is not clear whether Microsoft will allow pinning of third-party apps like this too. You can take a gander at all the screen grabs below: There is a new customization option in the Taskbar settings panel that reads “Show Store apps on the taskbar”, so there is every possibility that this feature stretches to all Modern UI apps. In any case, this could be the first steps of a major change that Redmond seems to be working towards, and that is bringing the ability to run Metro apps on the desktop and allowing users to run them in windows, in any size they see fit. Expect plenty more on this in the coming days.]]>

  • This is a very nice update. But the start button bitching whiners (tech writers) will have something negative to say I am sure.

    • You know it. The dishonesty and bias in the tech world has just gotten out of hand over the last year or so. No one is telling the truth. If they were, they would tell people that Windows 8 is basically Windows 7 with Metro added to it and the start button taken away. Also, instead of simply bashing Windows 8 and leaving it at that, they would do their jobs and do some research. They would try to find out exactly how much people are really using the start menu and how they’re using it. That way people could make informed decisions Most of the tech writers are the same guy that was your job trying to get everyone to use Linux or Mac
