considering using the “Nokia by Microsoft” on its Windows Phone handsets, in preparation for the expiration of the initial licensing agreement next year. Redmond was also said to be thinking about replacing the Surface brand with Lumia. A follow up on this report claims that the next handsets to be shipped with this “Nokia by Microsoft” branding will actually be the Android powered line up from the company, not the future Windows Phone handsets as was expected. In fact, these Android smartphones will also come with the Lumia tag — confusing at it sounds. All said and done, Microsoft’s immediate plans for both Windows Phone and Android seem to be rather unclear at the moment. As a result unconfirmed rumors are running wild. We will have to wait for official confirmation from the company on this to get any real idea.   • Even though I prefer surface than lumia by name itself, but it may be a move to help distinguish confusion of people thinking SP and surface tablets.

  • For now, Nokia by Microsoft enable people to recognise their familiar brand. But in the future, MS will dump Nokia brand because they will not want to provide free ad for other company.

  • Could it be possible android phones be Lumia, windows phones be surface same as tablets rt as lumia, windows pro as surface??
