It is not often one reads about Microsoft and Yahoo! in one sentence, but thanks to some amazing engineering by Nokia, we now have some wonderfully good news to report.
The startling 41 megapixel camera on the back of the Lumia 1020 has resulted in the smartphone becoming the most popular Windows Phone device on the popular photo sharing site Flickr. It has just taken the crown from another admired handset.
Yes, the Nokia Lumia 920 is now dethroned. And what is more interesting is that the Lumia 1020 is expected to grow even more in popularity in the coming months as it reaches even more markets.
As this report suggests, this should help the Windows Phone platform gain some needed traction among Flickr users. As of right now, Nokia phone cameras are now placed on the 11th position overall in the list of most popular photo capturing devices.
The latest data from AdDuplex, however, shows that the Lumia 1020 is yet to gain momentum.
This handset is not exactly the most popular Windows Phone handset, not yet. And this has got as much to do with how this smartphone has been priced, as it does with the fact that it is a bit of a niche product. But this Flickr accomplishment is surely a major one.
