Soon after making official its first ever phablet, the Finnish smartphone also announced the much more affordable Lumia 1320. Both new handsets pack 6-inch displays, but with some substantial differences.
The Lumia 1320, for starters, only comes with less than half the price tag of the Lumia 1520.
This new handset is obviously aimed at emerging markets and will hit the store shelves in Q1 2014 with an estimated street price of $340 — before taxes and subsidiaries. This affordable phablet is set to launch in China and Vietnam first, and then some other Asian markets, before hitting Europe.
Color options include orange, yellow, black and white.
Talking about specifications, the Lumia 1320 comes with an IPS LCD HD capacitive touchscreen at 720p, as opposed to the full HD 1080p display on the Lumia 1520. It, however, comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
Inside, the smartphone is equipped with a dual-core Snapdragon 800 processor that is clocked at 1.7GHz, 1GB or RAM, and 8GB of internal storage capacity. And just like its more expensive sibling, the Lumia 1320 comes with a microSD card slot that offers storage expansion up to 64GB.
A 5 megapixel rear facing camera offers autofocus, LED flash and video recording, though the secondary front facing camera for video calls only offers VGA resolution.
The high capacity 3400 mAh Li-Ion battery, while being non-removable, provides up to 672 hours of standby time and up to 25 hours of talk time — 21 hours in 3G mode.
Nokia has bundled Nokia Music for free music streaming and the HERE maps and location services.
