September 26 is turning out to be quite a momentous day for Nokia. While there was a hint of a doubt that the Finnish company may change its plans after the announcement that it is selling its handset division to Microsoft, the show, it seems, is going on.

And what a show it promises to be!

Nokia is expected to unveil a couple of new devices on this event in New York — one of which is the Lumia 1520 phablet, and the other a Windows RT tablet.

Nothing if official yet, mind you, but the famed leaker of news, @evleaks, is claiming in a tweet that the large screen smartphone is set for unveil smack two weeks from now, as in Thursday, September 26:

“Nokia Lumia 1520: launches 9/26”

Carrying a codename of Bandit, this large screen Windows Phone smartphone is said to arrive with the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update installed on top — meaning a full HD 1080p display resolution and support for quad-core processors.

A 6-inch display is set to be paired with the Snapdragon 800 chip, along with 32GB onboard storage (expandable via a microSD card)    and a 20 megapixel camera. The shooter is said to take two shots at once, a 16 megapixel photo and an oversampled 5 megapixel image.

If these rumors hold true, expect the Lumia 1520 to take its rightful position as the newest Nokia flagship towards the end of this month.
