AT&T only, at least in the US market. How about in Canada? Popular Canadian carrier Rogers wireless has now announced that they will be the preferred carrier not just for the Lumia 920 but ALL Windows Phone 8 devices. In fact, lucky Rogers subscribers will be the first consumers in the world with the chance to get their hands on the Nokia Lumia 920. The new flagship device will arrive alongside the HTC 8x and Samsung ATIV S.The Lumia 920 goes on sale sometime today actually! This is quite a bit ahead of AT&T’s release of the Nokia Lumia 920 and is pretty big news. So how much will the smartphone set you back? Canada tends to do things a little different in the US, offerings its best discounts to those that sign 3-year contracts. The Lumia 920 will cost $99.99 with a 3-year commitment or $549.99 for those that want it off-contract. For those that need the reminder, the Nokia Lumia 920 is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and has 32GB of internal memory. The display on this device is 4.5-inches and in HD. Other goodies include an 8MP rear camera. While 512MB of RAM is the minimum for Windows Phone 8, it is recommended that you get a phone with 1GB or higher, so this phone certainly should provide the “optimal” Windows Phone 8 experience. Anyone interested in jumping into the new platform? Will you get the Lumia 920 through Rogers, AT&T or another network depending on where you live? If not, which devices are you considering instead? It’s unfortunate Rogers has a horrible reputation in my area of Canada for billing, customers service and their internet service in general. I believe this is a timed exclusive and other carriers will be getting other devices soon. I want a Windows 8 Phone bad… but not that bad that I’d go to Rogers.
Interesting enough, I have been a Rogers customer for 10 years and their service has been really good so far (Great plans, easy to upgrade, no billing issues, etc), so, no complains at all. As soon as I get the chance to renew my contract for three more years I will be jumping into the Nokia 920… In the meantime, I will be waiting for the upgrade to WP7.8 for my Focus which has given me a great service until now.
