There was a moment in time, before the iPhone was made official, when Samsung offered the best camera quality on cell phones. All that changed in recent years, as Nokia put the emphasis on imaging in its newer handsets.
And one of the highlight of the photography experience on Nokia handsets is the company’s Camera app. This highly advanced application, along with the company’s PureView technology separates it from the competition — and how.
The app offers users enhanced control over the photographs they take with their smartphones, though up until now it was only available for a select few high-end Lumia models with PureView cameras.
But starting today, owners of any Nokia Lumia smartphone powered by Windows Phone 8 can enjoy the benefits of Nokia Camera Beta. It brings support for devices like Lumia 520, Lumia 521, Lumia 620, Lumia 625, Lumia 720, Lumia 810, Lumia 820, and Lumia 822 devices.
As Nokia says in a recent post on its blog:
“Nokia Camera Beta can be used in parallel with the commercial Nokia Camera application that is public in the Windows Phone Store for PureView Lumia devices. And you can set Nokia Camera Beta as your default camera, so that it starts up with the hardware shutter button.”
Do keep in mind that as is the case with any beta applications, downloading this software to your Nokia Lumia device may cause some bugs or stability issues. But if you are willing to try, this is a great way to get a taste of the new features the Nokia Camera app offers.
You can download it at the link above for all Lumia smartphones running either the Nokia Amber or Nokia Black software releases.
