Nvidia has just announced their brand new mobile processor – the Tegra 4.

It has 72 GPU cores and 4 A15 CPU cores making it the first quad core A15 chip on the market.

From the image below, you can see that Nvidia are boasting that this new chip blows away all competitors – the Nexus 10, iPad 4 etc.

They also mention an NVIDIA Computational Photography Engine as being part of the chipset. This feature will enable phones to take two high resolution photographs at the same time to create HDR photography.

They claim this specialized photo engine can create HDR photos 10x faster than the engine used in the iPhone 5 – i.e. quick high-dynamic range shots in 0.2 seconds.

With this chip, they are also introducing HDR video into the mix.

It will be interesting to find out how much this will cost and add to the price of a new smartphone.
