reported, along with an expected release date of Office 16 beta. While that’s still coming, Redmond has officially penciled in a launch window for the next version of its office productivity suite. As Mary Jo Foley details here, Julia White, the general manager for Office and Office 365 marketing at Microsoft said today at TechEd Europe that the company plans to launch these next generation Office client and server apps in the second half of 2015. So that pretty much throws out the early next year launch reports out the window. Some rumors had hinted that this next flavor of Office might be here in spring 2015, alongside the Windows 10, but that’s obviously not on the cards now. But the important bit here is that both the Office 16 server and client applications are arriving at the same time. These are in the hands of a select group of Microsoft partners in the form of early preview copies, and the software titan is also internally testing this new version. With Office for Android tablets also coming soon, the company certainly is aiming big in the near and upcoming future for its popular suite of productivity applications.]]>
