Windows Phone 8 fans are in the proverbial technological heaven this week. Hot off the heels of the official Instagram client, Waze has also just been introduced as an official application on the Windows Phone Store.
The developers made the announcement in a short post on their blog, highlighting their excitement for this new release, while also promising future improvements taking into account user feedback:
“After much anticipation, Waze is now available for download on Windows Phone! We are extremely excited to be available on the platform, and look forward to helping many new Wazers outsmart traffic.”
I am sure the feeling is mutual among Waze fans using Windows Phone handsets.
Waze, for those of you unaware, provides users with live routing based on community generated real time traffic and road information — meaning they can easily avoid congested traffic when travelling. It is one of the most popular services around of this kind.
The official Waze client for Windows Phone 8 includes community contributed road alerts and details about accidents, hazards, road closures and police traps.
And the app also features the ability to automatically re-route as road conditions change. It also automatically shuts down when it is in run in the background and a user is not driving. Support for smartphones running Windows Phone 8 (and up) is offered.
