Microsoft’s hunt for a new CEO is fast entering a decisive period, if we go by the hearsay that the technology titan wants a new person on the hot seat before the year is out.
Oracle CEO Mark Hurd is one of the illustrious names in technology that is said to be on the shortlist of the candidates that the Redmond board has in mind — names like Ford chief Alan Mulally and former Nokia boss Stephen Elop are also on this list.
But ask Hurd, and a possible switch to Microsoft will not be something that is on his mind.
The man wants to stay with Oracle for the foreseeable future. In an interview with CNBC, Hurd said that he only sees himself at Oracle for the time being:
“I’m very happy at Oracle, I plan on going nowhere.”
He seems quite contend with his current leadership role, judging by his comments at least. More importantly however, he refused to comment on any (secret) discussions with Redmond on a switch to the software giant.
Microsoft is said to already have held negotiations with a number of individuals, according to the latest on the grapevine, both internal and external candidates.
Hurd did have something to say on Microsoft, and said that the Redmond based technology company needs to work on their own business — without providing any specifics on what exactly he meant.
