VLC for Windows Phone was made available only a few months back, but the app has charted quite some success since launch. More than 1 million Windows Phone users have already downloaded it.
These statistics were provided by VideoLAN, the developer.
The popular multimedia app hit this important milestone in its first two and half months on the Windows Phone Store — hardly surprising when you consider that VLC Player is one of the most popular media players on almost all platforms out there.
Thomas Nigro, one of the lead developers states that these Windows Phone numbers compare pretty well to those on other mobile platforms like iOS and Android.

Specifics are yet to be provided, but this much is certain that users appreciate the support for a variety of formats that VLC for Windows Phone offers, along with its clean and easy to user interface on Microsoft’s mobile platforms.
The app itself had a rather storied and delayed launch, but the developers seem to have done well to iron out the reported bugs and performance issues.
VideoLAN have also confirmed that a new update for VLC on Windows Phone is currently being prepared, and this new version is on track for release later this week.
