glimpse of this from Russia via some leaked details and images a few week ago. Back then it went by the ridiculous name of PAP5507 DUO, but luckily, the company has changed the name before releasing it on the market. Yes, the Prestigio PAP5507 is actually the Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 DUO. And the company has confirmed that the smartphone will be available for purchase beginning July for just $235 off contract. What does this get you in terms of hardware? Well, how about dual SIM with dual standby support. A 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (in this case 720p) resolution, to go with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. Under the hood the 8500 is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor to go with 1GB of RAM. Windows Phone 8.1 is also in, as is an 8 megapixel camera with full HD recording on the back, and a 2 megapixel camera on the front. The budget variant, the Prestigio MultiPhone 8400 DUO offers the same dual SIM capabilities, but in a smaller 4-inch display that offers a pixel resolution of 800 by 480. Processor remains the same. And interestingly, this one retails for just $115 outright. Mamma Mia! All things considered, this is good news for the Windows Phone platform in Europe, and could have a big say in popularizing the operating system further in the Old Continent. About time!]]>
