While the Lumia 920 is by far the most popular Nokia handset out there, those that like customization might find that the Nokia Lumia 820 is also a great option with its interchangeable backplates.
Thanks to these removable color backings, you can change them out and buy new ones in all sorts of colors and styles. Not enough of customization there for you? Nokia has now released a 3D printing development kit that will include free schematics needed to 3D print your own Lumia 820 backing.
Using the information provided by Nokia, you can truly take customization of your Lumia 820 to new heights, and print them out at your nearest 3D Printing center– or at home if you happen to have a 3D printer.
Nokia says that they went ahead with this unique move because they believe that 3D printing has huge potential for everyday folks and would-be designers. They say that 3D printing will “utterly transform our lives” and want to help push it forward.
While 3D printing isn’t for everyone, I still have to admit that this was a really cool move on Nokia’s part. What do you think?
