The deal is sealed! Microsoft has officially confirmed that upcoming Redstone 5 update will be known as Windows 10 version 1809, which is now the formal version number.
This, the company revealed in a new preview build that it rolled out for Insiders on the Fast ring of the program, which brought with it several improvements and fixes. Nothing much in terms of new features, though, as expected.
Anyway, this version comes only three days after Redmond released a previous one.

You can find the official confirmation in the image below:
Obviously, Windows 10 version numbers are based on the date the update will be released to the general public, with the first two digits representing the year and the last two, the months.
In this case, it means September 2018, which is when Insiders can expect to get their hands on the final build of the update. The public release will most probably follow in October, with the rollout going on for a couple of months at least.
As has been the norm.
At the end of the day, this is a small milestone for Redstone 5, which until now had been in development as version 1803 for the past few months now.
Here’s to September 2018.
Here’s to version 1809.
