Releasing Microsoft Office on the iPad would be a disaster

I just wrote an article on Seeking Alpha that I think you might want to read.

It basically talks about why it would be a bad idea disaster for Microsoft to release a full version of Office for the iPad.

It’s called “If Microsoft Brings Office To The iPad, Sell Immediately

Here’s an excerpt:

In a recent article on CNN.com, Morgan Stanley’s Adam Holt estimates Microsoft (MSFT) may be leaving money on the table by not offering a full version of its Office suite on Apple’s (AAPL) iPads.

In the piece, he goes on to estimate that this decision is costing Microsoft two and a half billion dollars.

He may be right but it’s absolutely irrelevant.

What’s strange about the analysis is how incredibly one-sided it is and how it doesn’t talk about some of the potential downsides of such a decision.

Well that’s what I will do now.

First some context about Microsoft Office.

It’s a pretty good read (if I say so myself).

Check it out here.

  • I would not like to see Office (for example the 2013) on Apple devices, my comment is driven by the passionate hate towards Fruity Inc., death simple. Also their fans trolled enough on Windows and Linux world to show them the fingers about anything

  • It sucks to have to register for another site to finish reading this article, BTW: I did not register.

Those Fruit Loop nuts slam MS products every chance they get, but they were clammering to be able to run Windows and Windows Programs on their precious overpriced PC’s with a rotten piece of fruit with a bite taken out of it.
MS doesn’t need the money anyway! With 137B USD in cash they make 2B USD in interest alone a month probably.

Let them eat 똥을 먹고 죽어

  • Not only they have no intention but even if they want to, it would not be easy.
Look at how Office works in WinRT, it doesn’t use modern UI but has to go back to desktop mode. iPad doesn’t have desktop mode. Running Office in iPad is easier to say than do.
