The absolute best thing about a software release as important as Windows Blue is that constant influx of rumors — rumors that contradict the previous ones, rumors that expand on the latest gossip.
A new one just floated up earlier today. Not as juicy, but interesting, nevertheless.
This much we already know that Windows 8.1 (codename Blue) is expected to be released sometime this year. While Microsoft has already confirmed the internal codename of the new update to Windows 8, information about the release date is still up in the air.
But most reports pegged August as the month it would have hit store shelves.
Some new rumors posted on WinForum.eu, on the other hand, seem to suggest that Microsoft is pondering a public release in September — essentially, a nudge of a full complete month.
Obviously, nothing is confirmed yet, and reports like these should be taken with a grain of salt.
If Microsoft does indeed aim for September, it probably would coincide with some important event on the hardware side of things, both internal and otherwise. New Surface tablets, maybe?
The lackluster hardware at the time of Windows 8 launch did not help one bit, that’s for sure.
Anyway, no matter which month witnesses the release of Windows 8.1, all eyes will be on this new update to Microsoft’s current platform, Windows 8, and whether it can pave way for increased acceptance of the operating system.
