I just finishing covering an article on a rumor suggesting that the delays for the Samsung Windows Phone 8 smartphones might have actually had something to do with carriers keeping them back in order to let Nokia and HTC ‘dominant’ the market first.
Now the Samsung ATIV Odyssey is finally coming for real this time. The news just broke that the Odyssey is hitting Verizon’s network on Thursday, January 24th at a price point of just $49.99. The only catch is that you have to actually pay $100 and send in a $50 rebate, and obviously you’ll have have to commit to a two-year contract.
So what kind of hardware does the Samsung ATIV Odyssey bring to the table? It isn’t a bad phone, but certainly not a powerhouse either. The phone has a 800×480 display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 5MP back cam, 1.2MP front cam, Wi-Fi and LTE. Other specs include 8GB storage, microSD, 1GB of RAM and a 2100 mAh battery.
The Samsung ATIV Odyssey is a great deal for Samsung fans that also happen to like Windows technology over Android. This thing isn’t going to blow away offerings from HTC or Nokia, but it still isn’t a bad alternative if you really don’t need the greatest and latest hardware on the market.
What do you think of the ATIV Odyssey, a worthwhile Windows Phone 8 handset from Samsung or not?

That looks like a fucking waste of space. Not worth $49, $39, $29 etc
