preorder as a Verizon exclusive. The most interesting bit here is that yes, it arrives with Windows Phone 8. It is available for $199.99 on contract and $599.99 off — what’s with the 99 cents? Verizon says that the device will start shipping on April 12, and the hardware specifications are pretty much in line with what have been reported earlier. A 5-inch 1080p display, a 2.3GHz unnamed quad-core processor, a solid 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with a 13 megapixel rear camera. Interestingly, another report claims that Samsung is working on one more Windows Phone. This one is a midrange handset in terms of both price and hardware, and is set to be powered by Windows Phone 8.1. In fact, it is said to be the first Windows Phone 8.1 device by Samsung. The ATIV Core will have the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile platform out of the box. In terms of hardware, buyers get a 4.5-inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM, and either an 8 or 13 megapixel camera, the former more likely. No mention of the storage capacity and price of this handset, but it is expected to arrive in the following months, around the same time the Lumia 630, Lumia 635 and Lumia 930 are out in the market.]]>

Every time news is posted on this, I just can’t get over the name. Someone at Microsoft/Samsung needs to speak up and come up with a better, catchier name. Having said that, this does look like an awesome piece of hardware.
I agree. Nokia and Microsoft seem to be the only ones out there that seem to be able to pick decent names for their mobile products, well with the exception of the Dell Venue
Agree with both of you. This phone looks awesome, but I’m worried the name doesn’t stick. What’s the logic behind this name anyway?
What the heck is an ATIV. I looked it up. It’s just Vita spelled backwards. No other people reason to give it that name. How dumb is that. I know just like with Android, they have a desire for their phones, tablets, and other devices to have a similar name, but Galaxy is a different bird. It sounds technical. It sounds mysterious. It’s catchy.. Someone just have been drinking the day they chose ATIV. Microsoft should have asked them to choose a new name. If they picked a new name, there would be a buzz from that alone. People would wonder” what is this knew Samsung abc?”
The pictures and everything I hear about this make me think and believe that this will be an awesome phone! Like Ted, though, I do think it could use a ‘sexier’ name.
Yep
Microsoft really needs to start pushing this phone and pre-orders of this phone
On the money. This looks like the best phone yet maybe. My issue is the same as everyone else’s issue. It won’t stop big fans like us from buying it, but the “ATIV SE” isn’t what I’d consider marketable.
