Took them long enough! Microsoft Store finally has access to shopping carts. Or rather, a new shopping cart feature. Redmond has just rolled it out for both for Windows 10 and Xbox One.
The announcement was actually made on Xbox Wire, confirming that this handy new option is now available to Insiders in the Skip Ahead, Preview Alpha and Preview Beta rings of the Xbox Insider Program.
But there have been signs that it has also showed up on consumer Windows 10 devices, outside of the Insider builds that is to say.
As for the addition itself, the Shopping Cart is pretty straightforward.
This is how it looks:
Basically, you will see a new icon next to the Search button, from where you can access the list of items that you have added to the cart. New items can be added via the ellipsis menu next to the Buy or Install buttons in the Store listing of that given item.
And just as you would expect, the cart is synchronized across the web, PC and Xbox, meaning you should have no issues managing your saved items from any platform.
That said, there are a couple of known issues in the Shopping Cart feature, which Microsoft has detailed at the link above. These mostly relate to anonymous cart usage and navigation. The software titan is aware of them and working on fixes.
All in all, a nice addition to the Microsoft Store, which the company has been making improvements to over the past few months.
Neat stuff.
