Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has shown interest in developing a tablet more than once over the past year. And while the rumors have been plenty, it is only recently that speculation regarding Nokia’s Windows RT tablet has intensified.
So much so that we now have a reasonable idea of how the upcoming slate will look and perform.
The Finnish company wants to transition the colorful industrial design of its Lumia smartphones over to its tablet. And in terms of hardware capabilities, the device is said to feature a Snapdragon 800 processor, backed by 2GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage.
And today a new report from The Verge claims that the codename of the forthcoming device is Sirius.
This was, obviously, hinted last week along with other codenames of upcoming Nokia devices. But now we know that the Windows RT tablet device is codenamed Sirius.
Along with the above details, this new report also reveals that the Nokia tablet is not only thinner than Apple’s current generation iPad, but also weighs under a pound.
Projected battery life is said to be in the 10 hours range — while an additional keyboard accessory that doubles up as extra battery is, once again, said to be in development.
Nokia is expected to official announce the tablet at a press event in New York on September 26. A 6-inch Lumia phablet which has also recently been spotted in online benchmarks is also expected to be unveiled at the event.

I’m guessing the high price is because it comes with the battery keyboard
Could quite possibly be. 🙂 But I’d have to wager that Nokia knows what it is doing. It delayed its tablet entry up until now so that the Windows RT performance issues could be ironed out (Snapdragon 800), cellular connectivity could be included, and Windows RT 8.1 could be readied.
Plus, there is also the little bit of Microsoft’s fortune with the Surface RT to consider as well. Plus the retail channels. Hopefully, Nokia knows what it is doing. We will find out soon enough.
