Microsoft recently announced that Skype, it’s popular VoIP service will be integrated with Outlook.com, the company’s email platform. But like most things this large in scale, the software titan announced a phased roll out across the world.
The United Kingdom was the first to get this integration, but Redmond refused to provide a potential timeline for the worldwide launch of this feature.
Now according to WinBeta, Microsoft has started the global release of Skype integration in Outlook.com, with some German users getting this new feature this week.
No official details are available for the time being, but with Microsoft gearing up to launch a new version of Windows (along with new Surface tablets) later this year, the company would want to roll this feature out to as many markets as it can.
And no surprises here either — both Outlook.com and Skype hold key roles in the technology titan’s long term strategy for the future, and the company continues to improve both services.
This feature, obviously, allows Outlook.com users to chat with their Skype contacts without leaving their inbox, by simply using their Microsoft accounts. This is achieved by the help of special plugin that Microsoft has created for this purpose.
The plugin is available for almost all of the major web browsers on the market, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
