report, the device has now passed through the FCC, meaning it is one step close to hitting store shelves in the very near future. It appears that the documents were submitted on February 17 and 18, and have now become public. They do show that the device in question is powered by Windows RT 8.1 — a sure enough sign that we are talking about the Surface 2. No signs of Surface Pro 2 with wireless connectivity yet, if you are wondering. Then again, it is not all that hard to plug in a USB modem in these premium tablets thanks to full support via Windows 8.1 Pro, unlike Windows RT and its closed architecture. But hopefully a Pro model with LTE built in is also on the horizon. What remains to be seen is whether we get to see an uptake in corporate acceptance now that the Surface models are about to get wireless connectivity. The slates have, up until now, been at a disadvantage compared to the iPad and Android tablet in the enterprise market. Microsoft would like to make some waves in this important arena now, and the Surface 2 with LTE could not have come sooner. Now all we need is a confirmation of the Surface Mini, or a smaller Surface slate. Stay tuned.]]>
