report claimed that Redmond was planning to cease production of the Surface tablets and cancel the entire line of devices — surprising, really, because the company’s commitment to its line of flagship tablets has never been in doubt. Not even in the face of heavy write downs and lackluster sales. And now with the company having released its finest creation yet, earlier this year, the Surface Pro 3, there is talk that a refresh is on the cards. Surface 3 and the Surface Mini might be here in just a few weeks, insider sources hint. Anyway, to quell these rumors, Microsoft’s main man, CEO Satya Nadella dropped by on the official Surface blog to confirm that the line isn’t going anywhere:

“We believe a strength of the Microsoft platform for enterprise is the rich ecosystem of hardware and applications developed by our partners, the community at large, and some of our own teams at Microsoft. In particular with Microsoft Surface Pro 3 we are now offering an enterprise-class device that can deliver great end user productivity. Microsoft is putting its full and sustained support behind the ongoing Surface program as one of a number of great hardware choices for businesses large and small.”
In doing so, he also pushed the benefits that the Surface Pro 3 provides to businesses and enterprises. Add to this the various comments from other Microsoft executives that the company is in it for the long run, and we can be reasonably sure that the Surface brand of devices aren’t going anywhere.]]>
