Microsoft took the wraps off the all-new Surface Pro 8 at its annual event earlier today, and the premium tablet comes with some significant upgrades that are going to bring down the house.

A refreshed design brings a larger display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz, support for Thunderbolt 4, a new Signature keyboard, as well as a new Slim Pen.

Starting with the internals, the Pro 8 is equipped with the 11th-generation Intel Tiger Lake chips with Intel Evo certification that promises up to 16 hours of battery life. The 2-in-1 can pack as much as 32GB of RAM in the top-of-the-line configuration.

Support for Thunderbolt 4 brings the full capability of the port to the device, and the Pro 8 comes with two Thunderbolt ports along with the propriety Surface Connect port, skipping USB-A altogether.

The new display is 13 inches diagonally and has smaller bezels. Thanks to what Microsoft calls Adaptive Color Technology, the screen tweaks the color temperature based on ambient light—similar to a TrueTone display.

The panel is capable of 120Hz refresh rates and sports a dynamic refresh rate, thanks to this feature being added to Windows 11.

Additionally, the display supports the new Slim Pen 2, a new stylus that features haptic feedback to simulate writing on a piece of paper. And just like as on the Surface Pro X, the Slim Pen is housed in the Signature keyboard where it can charge wirelessly.

Redmond is also touting the improvements in latency due to the dedicated G6 chipset, a custom-built silicon that replaces the G5 in previous generation devices.

The Surface Pro 8 is available for preorder today. Prices start at $1,099 in the United States.
