Surface Pro Release Dates Revealed For Australia And The UK

The wait is finally coming to an end. Ever since its launch in February, eager buyers in several markets have been clamoring to get their hands on the Surface Pro.

Redmond sure took its time in announcing it, but the technology titan promised a few weeks back that it will debut the device in a number of important markets in the coming months. And then the list of countries was reveled and markets like the United Kingdom and the Land Down Under were included.

At the start of this month we had confirmation that the tablet would be hitting store shelves in these countries before the end of May. And now we finally have concrete release dates.

Microsoft has just announced that the Surface Pro would go on sale in the United Kingdom on May 23, with pricing to start at pricing to start at £719 ($1,095) for the 64GB model, and £799 ($1215) for the 128 GB configuration.

Robert Epstein, head of the British Surface division was noted as saying:

“The response to Surface RT has already been great to see. There has been strong anticipation for Surface Pro in the UK and we’re excited to be able to offer people a fully blown Windows 8 PC packed with powerful processing features in the innovative Surface design.”

Additionally, the technology titan also announced that its flagship tablet will be go on sale in Australia on May 30 — via its official online store as well as two local retailers, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.

Microsoft’s Ben Tan announced the news in a short little post:

“Like many Aussies, I spend my life on the go, travelling in both my personal and professional lives. With Surface Pro, having the power and performance of a PC in a tablet package is the perfect fit. I can do virtually everything I’ve ever done on a PC.”

Australia and the United Kingdom are just two of the markets that are set to receive the Surface Pro. The tablet is also coming to other European destinations like Germany, Italy and France in the next few weeks.
