Between rumors of next generation Surface tablets, and gossips of lukewarm sales of the current Surface RT model, Microsoft continues to promote and endorse its current lineup of slates.
The technology titan has initiated several education contracts and special promotions for the Surface RT, its first ever tablet. Now the company is going to launch a brand new campaign for the Surface RT, which the company hopes will not only boost sales but also clear out inventories.
Mere months remain before the second generation Surface slates arrive, after all.
Now according to a report by The Verge, the technology titan is planning to cut the price of its tablets by a clean $150. This should undoubtedly make the RT a much more appealing device.
Here is the new pricing scheme for the Surface RT, with and without a Touch Cover:
Surface RT 32GB — $349.99
Surface RT 64GB — $449.99
Surface RT 32GB with Touch Cover — $449.99
Surface RT 64GB with Touch Cover — $549.99
Redmond is yet to confirm this new campaign as of this writing, but an official confirmation should fly in soon. Staples, however, has already launched promotion ads to advertise this new offer.
The retail chain is a key Microsoft partner in the United States, and this means that this new promotion is all but confirmed. How this affects the overall sales of the device in the country, and the world over, should be evident in the coming weeks and months.
