Microsoft has brought Surface RT to several new markets in the past few months, with more countries set to join in the fun in the summer. And the numbers are playing favorably in the tablet’s favor.
Redmond’s first ever tablet in history continues its reign as the number one Windows 8 device in the market, the latest numbers provided by AdDuplex confirm.
The statistics gathered from its advertising network reveal that the Surface with Windows RT currently enjoys a market share of 6.2 percent — good enough for a comfortable first place finish.
HP Pavilion g6 claims the second spot with 3.7 percent.
Hot on its heels is another HP device, the Pavilion g7. Its 1.8 percent market share is good enough for a third place finish. As the chart above shows, most other devices stay in this range of 1 percent or higher.
Curiously, the Surface Pro is still yet to crack the top ten. The exotic tablet powered by the full version of Windows 8 has to contend with the 23rd position in the list. There is a fair chance that the slate will make an appearance in the top ten once it debuts in several important European markets.
Microsoft has promised to release the Surface Pro in a number of new markets around the globe. The slate is currently only available in the United States, Canada and China exclusively.
