Microsoft Surface

So I was reading today that Intel may be coming up with a lower powered chip which may provide Windows 8 tablets with extended battery life.

This would obviously be fantastic because tablets like Microsoft’s Surface Pro would then have Windows RT-like battery life.

Currently, we are expecting that the Microsoft Surface Pro will run for 4/4.5 hours.

My question for this weeks poll is, is that worth buying?

    • Exactly, great point.

I think it is exciting if a longer-running Surface Pro eventually surfaces (pardon the pun) down the road– but even with just 4 hours, it isn’t much different than many laptops out there and should suffice for many users.

    • I am sorry, but I have to disagree. 4 hour battery life ties laptops to a basically static location with only partial mobility. If this is to take on a more mobile usage as the form factor implies, 6 hours is an absolute minimum. If they cant make that, they should hold off a couple months until Intel releases the 10Watt Ivy Bridge. Remember, this is not just a laptop replacement, it is the next thing in mobility, meeting current mobility standards just doesnt cut it.
