report, Redmond has a solid chance of making some serious headway in the Indian market, with three companies on track to release new Windows Phones in the next few months. First in the list is Karbonn, and this vendor aims to launch at least 4 such smartphones by the end of May, priced between $100 and $195 — in other words, covering all the midrange price points. So far so good, so far so good. Lava Mobiles is another firm that is gearing up to release Windows Phone handsets in the local market, and it intends to stay within the $105 to $140 range. The company expects almost all of its smartphones to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 mobile processors, and expected time of arrival is set for July. And finally, Xolo also plans to take a slice of the Indian pie from Q2 onwards, although exact plans of how many devices it plans to release and when they will hit the market are still under wraps. A company official, however, has confirmed that they intend to grab around 15 percent of the market. I know India is the most populated nation right now, but what percentage of their population can afford these phones? I’m pretty sure there’s only a small segment of the population that can invest in these type of phones. It’s still a large enough market because of the size of the country, but just a relatively small percentage. I could be wrong though.
If Microsoft can take control of the foreign markets, it will not only help its reputation, but will also take a lot of pressure off of competing with the iPhone and Android domestically.

Good move. They need more vendors putting out phones over Africa and Asia. They just need to make sure their phones are on the big carriers there as well as the ones that are equivalent to Boost, Cricket, C-spire, and Virgin over here. They also need to be looking at countries that have some type of government assisted phone service. Heck they need to get into that market over here.
