Smartphones were flying off the shelves in December – typically the strongest month for sales – especially for gifts. Â The month featured discounts from all the major smartphone makers and carriers.
The question therefore, is how all the major smartphones did over the holiday sales period at each carrier – the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and of course, the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X.
Courtesy of the analysts at Canaccord Genuity (through B/OSS), here are the top selling smartphones at each major carrier in December, beginning with T-Mobile.
T-Mobile #3 – HTC 8X
The HTC 8X had a November debut and runs on Windows Phone 8. Besides competing with other platforms, it also competes with the Nokia Lumia line. Â Microsoft’s avalanche of marketing helped the HTC 8X reach #3 in sales at T-Mobile.
T-Mobile #2 – Samsung Galaxy Note II
The Galaxy Note II with its massive 5.5 inch screen was an expensive $370 and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It came in second at T-Mobile.
T-Mobile #1 – Samsung Galaxy S3
The Galaxy S3 has perched atop the bestseller list at T-Mobile for six straight months and T-Mobile has seen no need to cut its price from $280.
