New Windows phone announcements are so far and few between these days that they are a breath of fresh air when they come. Trekstor is here with the latest.
The German company wants to launch a Windows 10 Mobile device.
But it needs help from the community to make its mission a reality.
Trekstor Winphone 5.0 is the device in question, and it was actually announced earlier this year. Now, the company is moving ahead with the project, seeking to raise €500,000 from Windows Phone fans across the globe to start mass production.
The drive is underway right now, and although only a fraction of this figure is raised right now, €39,032 at the time of this writing by 210 backers, the company has a whole month to attain this amount and make a success out of it.
Hard, but not impossible if the community joins hands and gets together to get it done.

As for the technical specifications of this handset, there is not much to like.
The price of the phone is actually higher than other devices that offer similar hardware. But you will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core CPU running at 1.5GHz here, which will be paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage.
microSD card support for up to 64GB is expected, while the main camera is listed at 13 MP with dual flash, and the front facing camera is a 5 MP affair for selfies.
Gorilla Glass 3 protection covers the 5-inch screen, which obviously is not the strongest one available, now that fifth generation is on the market. Battery capacity is listed at 2250 mAh, and the handset weighs in at 150 grams.
The design looks stylish, if a little safe and standard, but is good enough for a $250 phone.
If it enters production, that is, after the success of this crowdfunding campaign.
