Microsoft had rolled out its brand new video messaging option for the standard version of Skype a few days back, and promised to bring the feature to Windows 8 as soon as possible.
Well, now the anticipated feature has finally arrived on Skype for Windows 8 — Microsoft has just released an updated version of its Skype app that includes the video messaging feature along with a number of bug fixes and other improvements.
Video messaging is a feature that allows users to record and send video clips to offline contacts, very much like a regular text message. The message is delivered to the contact once that particular contact comes online.
The video message can then be watched in a standard conversation window.
Yasmin Khan shared the new on the official Skype blog saying:
“Skype Video Messaging lets you record and send a video message to friends and family on Skype anytime, even when they’re unavailable; they can watch your Video Message next time they’re on Skype.”
The app now carries the version number 1.7, and as the software titan noted in the post above, the feature itself comes with a preview tag, denoting that people that use the feature could encounter some bugs and small errors.
Redmond is also said to be working on bringing this feature to the Windows Phone version of Skype very soon, and chances are it could launch for the mobile platform later this month.
