Then there is the issue that the Windows RT version is still nowhere to be seen — more wait for the millions that use tablets like the Surface RT, Surface 2 and the Nokia Lumia 2520. The bugs are somewhat understandable (this being a beta, after all), but the lack of support for the ARM flavor of Windows is a disappointment, considering these are the users that needed the application the most. Fingers crossed their wait is not a lengthy one. As of this writing, the app has a rating of 3.4 on the Windows Store, with no less than 63 one-star ratings from users, with complaints like the app failed to open videos on SD cards, could not handle the FLAC format, and constantly crashes. I don’t even care about VLC any more. This is of no surprise to me we’re going on 18 months and it is only a beta version, and from what I hear it does not work on Windows RT devices.
I won’t even download it and try it for myself.
I’m keeping it installed for now, but with no plans of using it, though. Surely not unless they make major UI improvements first.
And well, all the stability and performance issues need sorting out too.
Downloaded it and then uninstalled soon after trying it. It should have never been released in this state. It is not ready yet.
That seems to be the consensus. I didn’t get a chance to download yet, but I’m clearly going to wait until they fix some things.
This I agree, it was nowhere near ready. Wonder what took them so long, at least get a stabled core package out first (when so many others did) and worry about features later.
I will never get this move from businesses. What’s the benefit of rushing something out? It upsets consumers and give the brand a bad reputation. It just doesn’t add up. It’s better to be late and get it right.
