post on the project’s Kickstarter page reads:
“We’ve worked a lot on the audio crashes, and finally decided to rewrote the audio stack for Windows Metro platforms. Hopefully, this will allow us to finally pass the Store validation. This kept us busy during the holidays.”At the same time, VideoLAN has also revealed a whole bunch of screenshots that provide us a detailed look at the modern design interface. You can take a look at them here. The new screenshots show how the main start screen of the app looks, and we also get a peek at the Recent View menu. Pretty elementary stuff in terms of design for now, but that was expected as they focused on coding side of things. The developers have, however, promised to pay attention to the UI soon in future updates.]]>

Agreed. Particularly when a few very strong competitors are already out on the Windows Store. With advanced audio and video codec support, including MKV.
I guess we will see what happens. I’ll just use the desktop version for now
Yeah, the desktop version is a must have software, even if as a backup alternative. It’s lightweight, bloat free, and plays back almost everything.
