The second generation Surface tablets made their official appearance at a NYC event at the start of the week. And they are everything one expects them to be, in terms of hardware, software and accessories. Sales initiate on October 22, four days after the Windows 8.1 lift off.

Microsoft may be saying its final goodbyes to the concept of Service Packs (only a select few of its software get them now, but at the same time it is embracing the idea of GDR releases for its platforms.
