Wells Fargo Ends Support For Windows Phones

Had to happen! You may recall that Wells Fargo, one of the largest US banks, was appropriately enthusiastic when it unveiled its new app for Windows 10 Mobile devices.

It was actually in June 2016 that the company announced that it was ending support for the Windows Phone 8.1 platform, before quickly confirming plans to release a new app — which was made available soon after, with appropriate fanfare.

However, just over a year later, Wells Fargo is all ready to ditch that app too.

The firm has emailed customers informing them that support for this Windows 10 Mobile app will end two months from today:

“To focus on delivering exceptional digital experiences that our clients use the most, starting October 24, 2017, we will no longer support the Wells Fargo Mobile App for Windows phone. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

For fast and easy access to your accounts, you can continue to visit wellsfargo.com from your smartphone’s browser. wellsfargo.com is optimized for use on your smartphone and provides a mobile-friendly experience.”

Well, there you have it.

Wells Faro is one of the largest companies in the world, but at the end of the day, it is just another in the long list of big brands that have abandoned Microsoft’s mobile platform over the years. Including the likes of Amtrak, Delta Air Lines, eBay, EE, Samsung Smart Things, and Runtastic.

Another negative for Windows Phone, but not something that will have too big of an impact on the current user base of the mobile OS.
