Cloud technology, advancements and infrastructure continue to develop rapidly. Now a Cloud Congress exists to help navigate through all the competing and non-competing entities using the Internet. It gives opportunities for direct applications or direct application services development.
Cloud Congress 2013
Meetings of the Cloud Congress 2013 charted cloud technologies future. The previous year the group worked on increasing cloud use from servers to storage, and from security to disaster recovery. From this initial infrastructure, the Cloud Congress 2013 did an in-depth analysis of private clouds.
Private clouds became rated for the efficiency of existing operations and the level of data management integration accomplished. Protocols for mutually beneficial partnerships became established as well.
Also, discussions of how to take legacy technology of the last 30 to 40 years and how to establish ways to integrate it into the quickly advancing present technologies occurred.
Inauguration of Cloud Security Alliance
A new section of Congress formed for security purposes for gathering information, and creating programs for data integrity and integrating systems that protect cloud entities and private individuals. This is no easy task. The group has nonprofit status, so they function as watchers over cloud connection technologies.
They have begun the huge task of researching and standardizing processes for security assurances. Education and training will become provided for other entities on cloud computing and about connecting to all other forms of computing in this alliance.
Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge
Data has become the new currency for the cyber economy. Information acquisition, credibility, and distribution determine trust level. The trust level is becoming the common denominator in making alliances, and collaborations which evolves into making money or having influence.
What the certification in cloud security offers is a solid foundation in best practices and an awareness of security issues. Leveraging the training is expected to put cloud entities in the best positions to get the most out of any investments made.
The group intends to filter information to those who manage and maintain cloud environments with indications of what the focus or coming trends become. New cloud initiatives for the for seeable future will involve comprehensive, prescriptive guidelines for creating trust and reliability in security particularly in any new programs.
The Action Happens in the Stack
Outsourcing critical business functions are central criteria for cloud use. The practice has its risks in assurance and control in dealing with legal and regulatory duties for management of data and protection.
Security personnel in the know can use risk management, compliance and such oversight in a stack to create leverage and opportunity for their cloud enterprise. Anyone dealing with this portion of cloud technology knows layers of responsibility occur between cloud service providers and their tenants along with accountability measures.
The Cloud Security Alliance has made training that is offered by request for any entity wanting to get on the ground floor of such thinking. Its website under the training label gives a link that leads to a GRC Stack courseware and an access to a toolkit to show how to apply such knowledge for free.
In the fall of 2013, the group will convene to determine standardization, deal with mobile computing issues, and protocol for transparency of all controls. A large discussion included at the conference is how BIG Data will be used in the cloud.
Once parameters are established a burst of creativity and innovation is sure to happen as entities create partnerships with foundational aspects of cloud use. As always in life those who are early adopters have the best opportunities to make the most money and have the most influence.
