December 4, to be precise. It’s refreshing hearing about the launch of a new Windows 10 Mobile handset, and Wileyfox Pro is now firmly and squarely in the picture.
We have known for some time now that Microsoft is not interested in making new hardware for its operating platform, but it is becoming clear that there are a number of small manufacturers that are playing the long game.
Every now and then we find out about a crowdfunding campaign or two.
And very occasionally, a new Windows powered phone does launch, and make its way to fans.
This is one such occasion, as a listing for the Wileyfox Pro has recently gone up. The phone is not new, of course, and made its first public appearance during IFA 2017 this August. However, it was not made available for sale until now.
Looks like the handset is set to arrive next month, and those interested in getting their hands on it can currently preorder it on Amazon.
This is what the company says on the page:
“Wileyfox Pro with Windows 10 is the key to running your business or enterprise productively, secure, and efficient. The Wileyfox Pro’s well spec smartphone is designed for modern IT on the go. Your business companion at work tackling all the tasks. Automotive, Education, Government, Healthcare, Logistics, Retail, Telecommunications, Transportation.”
As you can see, this is a device primarily aimed at businesses, and companies that need devices specifically optimized for productivity.
It is certainly not the most powerful headset around, not even when taking into account its price. But buyers will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage on this device, along with an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front one, and a 2,100 mAh battery.
The price is £189.99, or around $251, in case you’re interested.
