Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 19H1 build to the Fast ring of its preview program, and this version comes with a few handy improvements to usability.
Starting with the fact that it now lets you uninstall built-in apps like Groove and Paint 3D.
If they’re not your type, so to say.
Redmond provided the details in this announcement post, highlighting the new features that are part of this upcoming version set to see daylight sometimes early next year.
One welcome new addition is DPI awareness in Task Manager that lets you know which of your applications have high-resolution support. Windows 10 still has a lot of ground to cover when it comes to these kinds of displays, but this is a step in the right direction.
Next up is the aforementioned ability to uninstall inbox apps straight via the context menu on the All Apps list of the Start Menu.
These include 3D Viewer, Calculator, Calendar, Groove Music, Mail, Movies & TV, Paint 3D, Snip & Sketch, Sticky Notes and Voice Recorder.
Previously, only seven apps could be uninstalled this way.
The company has also packed in a few troubleshooting improvements that make the process of fixing problems with the operating system a more seamless process. A new recommended troubleshooting setting under Settings is available.
To cap it all off, there are a few new enhancements available for Narrator, where you can now read the next, current and previous sentences via the tool.
As with all other builds, this new release contains a bunch of other changes, improvements and fixes, details of which can be scanned at the link above. Several known issues are also part of the package, so be sure to give it a read if you are installing this preview version.
Windows 10 19H1 is projected to be finalized in the spring, ahead of a planned April 2019 release date.
