Buzz among the bees is that Microsoft has achieved the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update RTM milestone, and the company is pretty much done with this major new update for the operating system.
One that is on track for launch this month.
On October 17.
It has been quite a journey for this particular update for the OS, with Redmond making some tall promises at BUILD 2017. And while many of these features have made the cut, a few have been left on the drawing board and are not part of the Fall Creators Update.
Nevertheless, word on the street is that the software titan is pleased with the version it very recently released for Insiders in the Fast ring of the preview program.
An update, rather.
Build 16299.15 is now a reality, and sources close to the development are hinting that Microsoft signed off on the final build last week. The company will be using this version as a base, and has approved it to be used by manufacturers to put on their latest and upcoming hardware creations.
Essentially, now that the RTM build is compiled, Microsoft will continue to improve this version with cumulative updates, and other small updates that are likely to be pushed to devices enrolled in the Windows Insider Program.
Obviously, those looking for a clean install of build 16299.15 will have to wait for the ISOs to be made available to Insiders, and they will be available for everyone after the ISO files hit the Slow ring.
And by the same token, with the launch of the Fall Creators Update looming, the company will also migrate Insiders in the Fast ring to the Skip Ahead channel of the program, which is currently getting the first Redstone 4 builds.
No word yet on what will happen to the Windows 10 Mobile releases, but hopefully Microsoft shares its plans for the mobile operating system soon as well.
